Apple iSlate launched today – believe the hype?

Many would have you believe that there are only two kinds of people in the modern world – those that love Apple and those that hate it. The company certainly inspires radical division between its followers and detractors.

However, the vast majority of people are largely indifferent and will make their judgements based upon the quality of the product and service offered rather than simply believing the hype. We did think that until recently but the Apple iPhone appears to be everyones choice, regardless of whether they will be using any of its features!

Many people, who just want a phone to talk and text, are desperate to get their hands on an iPhone and will pay the ludicrous monthly tariffs to get one free of charge. They believe the hype. For the moment at least. When they receive one and realise it doesn’t offer anything over and above their old phones they might change their minds. Particularly in several months time when the novelty has worn off and they are still paying the high price every month.

It’s amazing how many business phone users are also falling for the iPhone, even though it doesn’t offer any business functionality above phones costing half its price. Why pay a higher price? Business users should know better. Paying over the odds for any of your business supplies is a slippery slope and inevitably leads to lower profits.

Now comes the latest Apple innovation – the iSlate (that may not be its official name). Some form of tablet PC, or variant thereof, we won’t know until full details have been announced later today. However there are already plenty of people desperate to get their hands on one without even knowing what it can do!

By tomorrow morning we should know what Apple’s latest product promises, although we might not know the UK price or who will be providing it. It may well be subsidised by the mobile phone networks who will offer it with inclusive data usage.

What we know for sure is that, whatever the specs and price, it will sell by the bucketload to the blind Apple fans and continue Apple’s impressive rise in profits.

We will reserve judgement until we see what it can do and what it offers over and above existing products which will be considerably cheaper. If it genuinely is revolutionary, packed full of features that we are going to use, then we will give credit where it’s due. We will see…………….
